PORTLAND mother Emma Rudge has emphasised the value of Rotary House, now being built thanks to donations including the $250,000 fromPortland’s Rotary clubs.
Last year, Mrs Rudge travelled to Warrnambool daily for a month after her daughter, Ruby, was born three months prematurely.
“She was only one kilogram when she was born,” Mrs Rudge said, and the pair spent five months inMelbournebefore returning toWarrnambool Base Hospital.
However, while Ruby had to stay at the hospital, her mother couldn’t and, with limited options, Mrs Rudge chose to drive to Warrnambool each day.
“You’re so tired and so focused on what’s going on,” Mrs Rudge said. “You go into automatic pilot and do what needs to be done.”
