A 17-year-old Portland girl was injured in a low speed collision at 9.15pm on Wednesday, while she was crossing Percy Stat a pedestrian crossing.
Sergeant Martin Flannery said the car was heading north along Percy St when it struck the girl, but the driver, a 24-year-old Koroit man, immediately pulled over, called 000 and assisted the girl.
The girl was taken toPortland hospital for treatment and released on Friday, but details about her injuries were not available.
The windscreen of the car was shattered in the accident.
The driver was not affected by alcohol, and the police were investigating whether the weather on the evening may have been a factor in the incident.
