COMEDIAN Denise Drysdale paid a visit toPortlandon Wednesday night to entertainPortland’s unpaid carers.
The visit was organised by the South West Carer and Respite Network in partnership with Kyeema Support Services, which helped pay for the visit and provided free respite care so the carers could attend the appreciation dinner arranged as part of Carers Week.
The evening, held at Sandilands Restaurant and Reception Centre, attracted about 45 unpaid carers fromPortlandand 10 carer agency representatives.
Kyeema representative Barb Enscoe was among those who attended the evening, and she said Ms Drysdale was well received by the crowd.
Although the evening started with the first two courses of a meal, the highlight was Ms Drysdale’s performance, which covered a range of topics including her career and her experience as a carer for her mother.
Ms Drysdale kept the audience laughing throughout her performance, and caused a few sore sides, according to Ms Enscoe.
