
PEOPLE gather at Keppel Prince Engineering to hear about the Victorian Wind Alliance, which has been formed in an attempt to give a voice to wind energy supporters to counter the negative publicity from wind energy opponents.
THE wind energy sector hopes to harness community support following a regional launch of the fledgling Victorian Wind Alliance inPortlandyesterday morning.
More than 60 Keppel Prince Engineering workers showed their support for the alliance by signing statements of support for the sector at the launch.
The alliance has been formed in an attempt to give a voice to wind energy supporters to counter the negative publicity from wind energy opponents.
Concerns expressed by wind energy opponents in recent years have resulted in the State Government introducing stringent planning guidelines on the wind sector which has resulted on new investment from the sector almost grinding to a halt.
Keppel Prince Engineering general manager and alliance director Steve Garner said he welcomed the formation of the alliance, saying that support for the sector had been left to a few individuals for far too long.
