THE Glenelg Shire’s seven councillors elect gathered for the first time on Monday afternoon, and will conduct their first public business in just six days.
The councillors elect were welcomed by council staff at a private function in thePortlandcouncil offices, and first time councillors Anita Rank and Max Oberlander were given a taste of what is to come over the next four years.
They were congratulated by chief executive officer Sharon Kelsey for battling their way through the four-week campaign period, but warned them it will not be all smooth sailing ahead.
“There will be an impact on your personal lives,” Ms Kelsey said to the pair.
“It doesn’t matter what audience or forum you’re at, people will assume you are happy to talk about council business and you’ll have to work out how you’re going to work through that.”
