A POLE fire in Heywood on Tuesday night cut power supply to 900 properties for two hours.
The fire damaged the top cross-bar of a pole on the corner of Edgar and Scott streets at the front of the Heywood Hotel.
A spokesman for Powercor said the fire was reported at 6.46pm, with power restored to customers at 8.48pm.
“Crews worked to install a new cross-bar at a lower point on the pole which they were able to do because the height of pole was higher than usual,” he said.
The power outage forced Scotty’s Pizza to close its doors for the night, however, theHeywoodHotelremained open after it secured generators and lighting assistance, enabling a local band to play on the night.
That assistance came from firefighters and a Melbourne-based TV crew staying at the hotel in relation to the Kentbuck fire.
