A HAMILTONman had a month added to his prison sentence, after he yelled threats to a man in front of his children, while carrying a spear.
Leigh Agnew, 27, formerly of Dean Crt, pleaded guilty in Hamilton Magistrate’s Court to possessing a dangerous article, behaving in an offensive manner and using threatening words.
Agnew has been serving a prison sentence since May 16, last year, and appeared from the dock.
The court heard the accused had been drinking at the victim’s home when a verbal altercation began and Agnew and co-accused told the victim, “We don’t give a f… about your kids”.
Agnew then retrieved a spear and returned to the front of the house, where he continued a verbal altercation with the victim.
Agnew was due to apply for parole, which had been held until these matters were brought to court.
Mr Marks asked that the magistrate consider the fact that the offending took place before Agnew’s prior sentencing and before he made a decision to “be a man”.
