THE Western Bulldogs are set to launch what Liam Picken hopes will be an “exciting year” for the club.
The former Hamilton boy was in his hometown this week as part of the Western Bulldogs’ Australia Post AFL Community Camp.
“Hopefully it’s a really exciting year,” Picken told the Hamilton Spectator at Thursday’s Southern Grampians Shire Council reception.
“We’ve got a mix of experienced players and youth.
“We’ve got some really exciting young players.
“There are some guys who have had really good pre-seasons, so hopefully we can surprise a few teams and have a really good year.”
Picken, himself, has enjoyed an impressive pre-season.
“I’ve been training well and everything like that,” he said.
“Training’s been really good after Christmas.
“You can never really tell until you start playing games, but everyone feels really good and we’re training well.
“So hopefully we can have a good year.”
