HAMILTON businesses will paint the town purple this weekend, in a bid to unite the community in the fight against cancer.
Relay for Life is rapidly approaching on March 22 and 23, but only seven teams have registered to partake in Hamilton’s biennial event.
The relay, which raises money for Cancer Council research and support services, came to Southern Grampians Shire about 10 years ago.
A passionate committee raised $40,000 in its first year, $98,000 in its second and $102,000 in the third.
Next week local businesses will compete for prizes and free advertising in The Spectator, trying to out-purple each other and plant a seed in the minds of all those who’ve been touched by cancer and want to see change.
