A PORTLAND man in possession of 10 grams of ice amphetamines and $3000 was arrested in the bush near Dutton Way, Monday night.
Daniel Rayfield, 28, was remanded into custody and appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with trafficking a drug of dependence.
Rayfield didn’t come before the magistrate before deadline.
Sergeant Darren Hannegraf said the arrest was made after 11pm following a tip-off from a member of the public who said Rayfield would be waiting in the bush around midnight.
Last week, Portland, Hamilton and Warrnambool police were asking members of the public to provide them with information relevant to drug-dealing in the region.
“You might know someone doing drugs or selling drugs and we are encouraging you to let us know,” Senior Sergeant Russel Tharle told the Portland Observer last week.
“The information can come from anyone that knows something is going on, be it a parent, neighbour or friend.”
The operation wrapped-up Saturday but police are urging people to continue providing them with relevant information by calling Portland police on 5523 1999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
