FORMER Monivae brother, Edward Mamo has been convicted of seven counts of indecent and unlawful assault of boys under the age of 16.
Judge Julian Leckie said it was innapropriate to suspend a prison sentence – Mamo was sentenced to an immediate term of two years and three months’ imprisonment.
One of his victims said he was pleased with the outcome, primarily because Mamo was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
“He can’t do hurt to anyone else, that was the key goal,” he said.
