FORMER Monivae College brother and convicted molester, Edward Mamo, has been jailed for two years and three months and will remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life – but it is unlikely that the Sydney man has seen his last day in court.
Last year, Mamo, 68, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool County Court to seven separate counts of unlawful and indecent assault of boys under the age of 16.
Mamo’s sentence was handed down in Melbourne County Court yesterday morning.
Outside of the court, one of Mamo’s victims said he was “happy” with the verdict, “primarily, because by putting him on the sex offenders list he can’t do hurt to anyone else – that was the key goal”.
Victims were joined in court by silent supporters, who claimed that their lives had also been irreparably damaged by the man, 30 years ago.
