THE Edenhope Cricket Club may have consolidated third position on the Casterton and District Cricket Association premiership ladder with a thrilling victory over Wando Vale at the weekend, but it will not compete in this year’s finals series because of a decision it made in January to withdraw from the finals so players could attend a wedding in Melbourne.
However, ever since that decision was made, the team has experienced a winning streak and has been undefeated since November.
But, it is believed team members accepted invitations to attend a former team-mates wedding early in the season and made their intentions clear well before the season got under way.
The club advised the CDCA executive at its January meeting that it would not be able to field a team if the club finished in the final four and subsequently would not be able to compete in any finals games.
