Wombat Kids celebrate

Wombat Kids celebrate
YOUNG, local talent will make the Wombat Kids Charity Concert extra special this year, reaching the audience with popular songs and original works. Sophie Linke (centre) will return to the stage, joined by James Huf and Taylor Crumpton, who will make their debut appearances. “It’s amazing on stage, connecting with the audience and knowing that they’re having a good time, because you have a good time then too,” Ms Linke said. “I see the concert as a way of celebrating people’s lives and making sure everyone’s got a smile on their face even though we’re remembering sad times.” Story: PAGE 2. IT’S all about the kids at the 2013 Wombat Kids Charity Concert tomorrow night, inspired and presented by Hamilton youth.
The annual concert raises awareness and funds for a group of kids, ‘wombats’, who are braving the world with a smile after losing a parent.
This year the event was placed in the capable hands of Liz Anagnostou, but founder Fe Holden will make the trip down from Trinity Beach especially.
Ms Anagnostou became a single parent-of-three when her partner died of cancer in 2011, but chose to balance work, family and Wombat Kids for the sake of her 10-year-old angel, Olivia.
Unwittingly, Olivia encapsulates the very essence of Wombat Kids by refusing to forget or block out memories of her father.
“She woke up one day and told me she had a dream of her dad for the first time,” Ms Anagnostou said.
