BATSMEN were on fire in both Casterton and District Cricket Association semi-finals played last weekend. Casterton century makers Ricky Killey (117) and his brother Matt (108) led the Maroons to a hard-fought 52-run victory over a determined Wando Vale at Island Park.
Pigeon Ponds also had two century makers in a match-winning unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 184 against a resilient Merino. Opener Ryan Lloyd- Jones (105 no) and Anthony Close (101no) dominated the Pigeon Ponds’ innings as the home team registered a six-wicket victory over the Wombats.
Merino’s Matt Koutroubas (94) was just six runs short of a fifth century in the game. Despite the dominance of the batsmen, there were also some great individual performances with the ball from all four teams.
