KIDS, get excited – there are just five sleeps until Hamilton’s new lake side playground is officially opened and the winning entry for the naming competition is revealed.
The playground will officially open this Thursday and hundreds of entries have been received from the region’s schools, for the naming competition.
The new name for the playground has been created through a colouring and naming competition that Southern Grampians Shire has run over recent months, with hundreds of entries flooding in.
The winners of this competition will be invited along with other students from their school to have first play on the new playground as part of the official opening.
The $1.66 million project was funded through a $1.05m grant from the Federal Government Regional Development Australia Fund, $160,000 from Places Victoria and more than $450,000 from the shire.
Among the exciting attractions at the playground are a pirate ship with slide, spider net, swings, a star surfer and water and sand play feature.
