CONSTRUCTION work on the fourth and final stage of the Portland Wind Energy Project will begin in a matter of weeks, after Pacific Hydro successfully secured finance for the project.
The final stage will see the construction of 23 turbines split between two sites at Cape Nelson North and Cape Sir William Grant — sites that are renowned for strong and consistent winds.
A delighted Andrew Richards, Pacific Hydro’s executive manager of external affairs, announced yesterday that it was all systems go for the $110 million fourth stage, which completes the $400 million project
“All the money is now secured and REpower is in the process of finalising contractors,” Mr Richards said.
