QUESTION: What do Lachie Field, Kyle Smitten and Cam Pither have in common?
Answer: The young guns are all members of an elite cricket club … the `hat-trick club’.
First it was Field, then it was Smitten and now Pither is this season’s latest inductee.
The 16-year-old St Andrew’s medium pacer claimed the feat in the just completed HDJCA Under 16 contest against College.
Pither has the ability to move the ball through the air and is able to maintain a good line and length.
This was emphasised by the fact that he rattled the stumps of all three of his hat-trick victims.
He stole the show on the opening day of the Round Five encounter as he completed 7.3 overs with the outstanding figures of 4-7.
He opened his devastating spell with three consecutive maidens.
It set the scene for his hat-trick, which was to come in his sixth over.
