FOR the second match in a row Macarthur will be looking to defend top spot on the Bendigo Bank HDCA A grade ladder as Grampians make the trip south when the top two teams at Macarthur Recreation Reserve today.
Having seen off the threat posed by College at the same venue last week, Macarthur will be tested once again as the Pumas are looking to take the ladder lead coming into the Christmas break.
The teams are both in form after victories in their respective matches last weekend, with the Demons having bowled extremely well in defending only 116 runs, while Grampians can thank their skipper Kane Uebergang for blasting St Andrew’s out of the game in only 12 overs after the Pumas attack maintained the pressure throughout the Drew’s innings.
On paper Grampians appear to be a much stronger team than Macarthur, but thankfully the game is not fought out on paper and the Macarthur boys are playing as a unit with all their players, be they stars or otherwise, contributing when needed.
It will be the bowlers of each team who will decide this match and in this department the Pumas appear to have an advantage with greater depth than the hosts.
