JACOB Mibus was one of the star performers at this year’s National Track and Field Championships in Brisbane.
The 12-year-old rising athletics star returned home with four medals and four national records for the four events he contested.
He contested the 100 metre, 200 metre and 800 metre track events, and also excelled in the long jump.
The nationals were staged at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre … a Commonwealth Games venue.
Unfazed by such an imposing stadium, Jacob rose to the challenge to complete what has been a phenomenal year of competition at an elite level.
His medal haul included gold for the 800 metres, silver for the long jump, bronze in the 100 metres and bronze in the relay.
The T44 (single amputee below the knee) athlete also set four national records in every event he contested.
Just as significant, though, were new Personal Bests for the 100 metres (15.6 seconds) and long jump (3.66 metres).
