HAMILTON Junior Basketball Association was represented by a large contingent of teams at the annual Horsham Tournament.
The Under 16 girls played four tough games in Division One.
Their first game was a one-sided affair against a very talented Horsham team.
The Hurricanes’ defence couldn’t stop the strong attacking play of the Horsham girls and were defeated 47-8.
The girls got off to a good start against Portland in their second game, playing well in defence and led by a point at half time.
Hamilton drew ahead in the second half to at one stage lead by eight points, but Portland fought back to within two points with a minute to go.
The Hamilton girls kept their cool and defended strongly to win 31-29.
The final game on Saturday was against Millicent and although the girls were defeated 42-24, they fought hard to the end and never gave up despite tired legs.
In their final game for the weekend on Sunday, they met Portland again to decide on a third or fourth finish.
This was another even battle as Hamilton led by a point at half time.
The second half was even throughout and tight defence by both teams kept the scoring opportunities to a minimum.
Great patience around the key and accurate passing enabled the Hamilton girls win by a point, 26-25, and finish the tournament in third position.
