A DICK Smith staff member was standing just centimetres away from a window that a car ploughed into in Hamilton on Wednesday afternoon.
The blue Mazda, driven by an 80-year-old Hamilton woman, crashed into the window around 2.30pm.
Witnesses say it appeared the woman’s foot slipped from the brake.
“She was pulling into the car park and was slowing down, then suddenly she sped up and went straight through the window,” one woman said.
Nobody inside the store was injured.
The woman was taken by ambulance to the Hamilton Base Hospital with minor abrasions.
Hamilton Highway Patrol Sergeant Scott Williams said the cause of the crash was being investigated, including whether there was any medical reason for the crash.
*Meanwhile police were forced to divert traffic around two earlier incidents in Hamilton on Wednesday.
Shortly before 8am police were called to a diesel spill on the corner of Lodge Rd and Portland Rd.
Traffic was directed around the spill until VicRoads were able to clear it.
