THE Coleraine Hospital officially opened on Friday after years of planning and 27 months of construction.
Western District Health Service chief executive, Jim Fletcher said they were celebrating the vision becoming a reality with the opening of the health precinct, Coleraine campus.
“It is a one stop shop health precinct for Coleraine … it is very rare to be given the opportunity to develop a health precinct in one single stage,” Mr Fletcher said.
“It is also very rare to have a project of this size be completed ahead of schedule and in this case four months ahead of schedule and within budget.”
The $27 million health precinct includes a brand new hospital with 10 acute beds, and 27 aged care beds, with support services building for catering, maintenance and administration, new medical, dental, maternal and child health and primary care services building.
