MERINO is back on the law enforcement map.
Leading Senior Constable Brent Reed and his partner have moved into the police house and he is getting himself settled into the station a week after moving to town.
The Merino station has been empty since Senior Constable Barrie Judge moved in 2011.
Ldg Sen Const Reed jumped at the opportunity to move to Merino and take on the responsibility of running a one-man station.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, to have my own station,” she said.
“I grew up in a small town with a one man station.
“It’s good to be a presence within a community.”
During his 14 years with Victoria Police Ldg Sen Const Reed has “been everywhere”.
“I was at Corryong for 14 months before this vacancy came up,” he said.
“I’ve done a sting in East Timor with the Australian Federal Police.
