LOCAL groups have welcomed the appointment of a new Landcare facilitator for the region.
Susan Kamp was introduced to members of the local Landcare consortium at a seminar at The Hamilton Club on Tuesday night.
The consortium includes five groups – Hamilton-Coleraine Railway Line Landcare Group (HCRLLG), Gazette Land Action, Napier Landcare, Pierrepoint Land Protection, Lyne Camp and Arrandoovong Creek Landcare.
Ms Kamp, who grew up on a family farm in Branxholme, will assist all five groups as well as the Pierrepoint Land Protection Group and the Yulecart Landcare Group.
She has a strong understanding of the agricultural sector and a deep interested in landcare.
Her position is funded by the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI).
HCRLLG secretary, Rowena Ford, said Ms Kamp would be a great asset to landholders as she assists with the development of their landcare projects.
Guest speaker at this week’s seminar was Dr John Morgan, from the Department of Botany at La Trobe University.
