THE Grangeburn Ladies Division Two and Division Three pennant teams came home
winners after grand finals were played on Monday at the Portland Bowling Club.
Division Two played Heywood and after a very close game with scores level at lunch, Grangeburn got up by one point, 43-42.
It was a great team effort and really it all came down to the last bowl of the day.
Grangeburn holding game (and holding their breaths) and the bowl was a little wide to allow a one shot win.
In Division Three, the game was close all day.
Grangeburn was seven shots down at lunch, but fought its way back and came home with a two shot win.
A fantastic effort by all concerned.
In the men’s pennant, Division One played Penshurst and came home winners, winning on two rinks.
Division Two and Three went down, but not without a fight.
Tuesday’s social pairs were won by Graeme Mashado and Neville Linke (s).
We had our Christmas barbecue lunch on Sunday and this turned out to be a very good day.
Highlight was a visit from Santa on his rider mower and the kids, big and small, lined up to put in a request for Christmas.
The weather was great and the barbecue meal was enjoyed by all.
The men’s club singles commence on Sunday at 9.30am.
The ladies’ singles are down to the last two … Leah McCabe and Wendy Colcott.
This is to be played at a later date.
Indoor bowls had their break-up last Wednesday.
The lunch was well attended and winners for the day were Essie Hickleton, Bev Dunn, Joan Cass and Ken Kirkwood (s).
Runners-up were Nancy O’Donnell, Barb Harman, Olive Barker and Pauline Kirkwood (s).
