THE Hamilton District Junior Cricket Association announced its four squads for the 2014 Country Week competitions in early January at a presentation ceremony at the Hamilton Cricket Club’s clubroom on Wednesday afternoon.
After a very successful 2013, including a title victory for the Under 15s, Hamilton will be hoping to be a major player again and have named four top quality teams which will be up for the challenge.
Association president Leigh Alexander assisted the coaching staff of each of the four teams to present each player with their Hamilton representative top, cap and wide brimmed hat to wear during the annual carnival of junior cricket, along with drink bottles.
He congratulated and spoke to the players of what it meant to be selected as part of a representative team and urged them all to enjoy the experience.
He also pointed out that it was their strengths which brought about their selections, but reminded the players to also think about how they can improve any weaknesses and to set a couple of goals for themselves and the team and to go for them.
