HIGH temperatures caused melting roads and a traffic hazard near Hamilton this week.
A newly tarred section of Digby Road at the Young Street intersection is now in need of repair after temperatures in the 30s and heavy traffic saw the road melt and pieces of the new road surface ripped from old.
The sticky tar forced motorists to slow down on the section of road just outside Hamilton.
Trucks are already being recommended to avoid the road because of delays caused by the bridge works at Yulecart.
One driver described the sticky mess of the road surface as “crazy”.
“I thought there was something wrong with my tyres the first time I drove past,” he said.
