NINETEEN students from the Hamilton and District Skills Centre (HDSC) have arrived back in Hamilton after spending 15 days in Italy soaking up the food, language and culture.
The students, who are completing a certificate two in hospitality or kitchen operations, spend approximately 200 hours a year working through the two year course.
HDSC’s Tony MacGillivray said they decided they should offer an opportunity to the students to look at food worldly instead of just locally.
“We got in touch with an Italian cooking school and language school and it all went from there,” Mr MacGillivray said.
“We did language in the mornings for the first week and then in the afternoons went to a different school and we did Italian food.”
