SOUTH West District Football Netball League administrator Chrissy Hawker is getting on with ‘life after Sandford’ and can foresee a day when the club may once again be a part of the league.
Responding to questions about how the merger between Casterton and Sandford would affect the SWDFNL, Hawker said that the league had assisted in the process in order to help Sandford make the best decision it could about its future.
“The league has worked side by side with Sandford with this,” she said.
“We are happy with Sandford’s decision, as in all honesty nobody wants to see a club from such a small town like Sandford fold and merging was the most sensible way to go.”
Hawker also wished the Sandford playing group the very best of luck and hopes that they will be treated well within the new entity.
“I personally hope that the Sandford players are well looked after in the new club and that they don’t get overlooked,” she said.
“Every club is recruiting hard at present and those Sandford players need to be looked after.
“They are a great bunch from a great club and without a doubt a lot of heartstring pulling, sweat and tears would have been done for this decision to be made.
“Sandford will always have a place in the South West League.”
