IN an enthralling game the ‘rousers played a drawn game with the Portland Gold visitors.
The day got off to an interesting start for Gold when one of the skippers went to the bus luggage compartment and couldn’t find his red case.
This turned out to be the equal of walking down from the Mt Rouse car park when the person in question had to borrow bowls with distinct bad habits.
John Emmo with David Cook (Penshurst) as second (seconds as notables in this week’s report) scored 22 to defeat the region fours champions by five shots.
Peter Cottier–Bill Sutterby won one rink for Gold.
Now comes the climax.
Penshurst’s Bret Linke with Justin Eales versus Peter Webster and Kevin Pye, who were last to finish … last two bowls with Gold one shot up.
Webster draws perfect line, well almost, blame bad habits.
Linke still down one, plays an up shot ‘bing bang’ lucky wick one shot to get the draw.
Gold now top of the ladder by one point.
Penshurst appear safe in the four.
Heywood turned on the kind of weather they like and defeated Dunkeld by two shots.
