DAYTON Thomas and Emily Johnston have both been selected to represent the South Australian State side in the under-15 division at the National Hockey Championships.
After an exhaustive selection process in Adelaide, both Thomas and Johnston survived rigorous training to be chosen in the side which must now wait until April to prove its worth against a cavalcade of hungry state sides.
Thomas will travel to Perth, while Johnston will embark on a journey to Hobart in the state championships, which will be held from April 12-20.
Thomas survived two weeks of testing to be included in the two goalkeepers which will travel to Perth in the squad of 17.
Nine goalies originally tried for selection in the under-15 boy’s side, which provides a testament to Thomas’ ability.
After a week of initial trials the goalkeepers were cut from nine to three, with Thomas surviving another week of further cuts to be included in the main squad.
