SUMMER has arrived, and that means sun, sand, and often, sausages.
However the Get Active Glenelg2Grampians (G2G) project that aims to increase capacity within the community to promote, support and facilitate increased healthy eating within the Glenelg and Southern Grampians shires is asking people to think about healthier barbecue options.
Get Active G2G project co-ordinator, Carol Stewart said barbecues were a popular fundraising option for many community groups and service clubs.
“Summer has traditionally been the season of sausages, and I love a good snag as much as the next person,” Ms Stewart said.
“This program is about recognising there can be more to community barbeques and fundraisers than just sausages.”
Tony MacGillivray, from the Hamilton Skills Centre, will be delivering a Get Active G2G Healthy barbecue workshop on January 29, for not for profit clubs that do barbecue catering.
