TWO members of the Rotary Club of Hamilton North, with a combined 46 years service, have been honoured with Paul Harris Fellowships.
Michael Hartwich and Gerard Lucas were awarded the service club’s top honour at a dinner meeting this month.
The Paul Harris Fellowship, named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with three business associates in Chicago in 1905, honours people who have demonstrated the Rotary ideal of service above self.
Club president, Jenni Barke said Mr Hartwich and Mr Lucas were both very worthy recipients of the fellowship.
“They are both people who have been long-time contributors to the community, not just Rotary, but elsewhere,” Mrs Barke said.
Mr Hartwich, well known as the owner of Scott’s Store, alongside his wife Lillian, was inducted into Rotary in 1992.
