A $1.15 MILLION plan to further expand and upgrade Yarraman Park into a multi-purpose facility has been recommended in a consultant’s report.
The draft feasibility report by firm Winning Options has been released by the Glenelg Shire Council and is open to public submissions until February 28.
Its key proposal is the redevelopment of the existing hall and the construction of a 575 square metre extension for gymnastics.
The gymnastics facility would be connected with a redeveloped shared hall facility which would include committee and meeting rooms, kitchen, toilets and showers, verandas, car parking and a new playground.
Seven clubs and user groups use Yarraman Park as their home base.
The consultants said the development of a multi-purpose facility for Yarraman Park was a feasible and well-supported concept.
“Existing user groups are currently using sub-standard facilities which are not compliant with legislation, particularly in relation to disability access,” the report said.
