PORTLAND will send two cricket representative sides to the Victorian Country Week in the under-15 and under-17 championships next week.
The under-15 line-up will make the road trip to Horsham to start their campaign on Monday, while the under-17 side will kick their tournament off in Portland on Monday before finishing the week in Warrnambool.
After canvassing the local clubs for potential players throughout the season, the line-ups have been finalised and the teams must now bide their time in preparation for the tournament.
Under-17 coach and Junior Coordinator Dean Wilson outlined the selection process of his side in the lead up to the tournament.
“The process was a bit awkward this year because we were a bit limited for numbers so it was just a matter of asking all the boys that were eligible who wanted to go and who didn’t want to go” he said.
Despite this shortcoming Wilson is confident his side can push the best teams next week.
