HAMILTON region field and game hunters can look forward to a full duck hunting season in 2014.
Agriculture Minister, Peter Walsh, has announced next year’s 12 week duck hunting season would begin on Saturday, March 15.
A bag limit of 10 ducks will apply.
Mr Walsh said he had accepted the Hunting Advisory Committee’s recommendation of a full season due to the distribution of game ducks throughout eastern Australia and the extensive waterfowl habitat in southern Victoria and neighbouring South Australia.
The move was immediately welcomed by sports shooting organisations across the state.
Mr Walsh urged the state’s 45,000 licensed game hunters to make the most of a full season.
