THE tenant in the story ‘The Tenant from Hell’ published December 28, 2013 has requested that The Spectator publish this response to some of the claims made by their former landlord.
Their name was withheld by request.
“AS the tenant of the property I think it’s extremely unfair that the landlord from hell can do this.
Firstly, I’m not going to say that the mess wasn’t there because it was. It was there because I was waiting for a skip bin to be delivered.
And also my children never lived in the mess. The front page photos were taken while I was in the process of moving. I still had the keys to the property until the 29th of December, as I have been going to the property moving the rubbish on days off.
Just a few other things – the landlord from hell has never been contactable, and never answered requests to fix existing and continuous problems. He was contacted via Facebook as he was only ever at his home twice in the 17 months we lived there.
The landlord from hell did receive a bond.
