THREE people escaped with only minor injuries after a head-on collision between a truck and car on the Portland-Nelson Rd on Monday.
The accident happened at 11.40am about three kilometres west of Nelson after a B-double truck loaded with woodchips burst a tyre as it was negotiating a bend.
Leading Senior Constable Andrew Payne, of the Portland police Highway Patrol Unit, said the truck lost control as a Mitsubishi Lancer approached the bend, with the two vehicles colliding and the truck overturning.
The truck driver and the two people in the Lancer all miraculously escaped serious injury.
