A WEEKEND full of interruptions has blemished the drags event held at the South Coast Raceway last weekend.
A chaotic and sometimes turbulent Saturday was brought to a dramatic halt when Mick Mahoney slammed into a concrete wall at 225 kilometres per hour in an incident which shook the event to its core and halted proceedings for the day’s racing.
The remainder of Saturday was dedicated to ensuring Mahoney maintained good health and repairing the concrete wall by the track.
The event was well attended by around 1,500 people in a showing which demonstrated the communities thirst for motorsport and hunger for events of this magnitude.
