TOMORROW might just be the perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to win an original Brett Jarrett wildlife painting.
The internationally-honoured Narrawong artist has agreed to donate a painting of hooded plovers as the main prize in a raffle to assist Sunday’s Mouth 2 Mouth event. Raffle tickets are being sold tomorrow in front of Safeway.
“I’ll go to the beach tomorrow for some plover photographs, then paint it over the next three days,” he said on Tuesday. “I’m not especially fast as a painter so it’ll take me two or three days to complete, but you can be sure it will be ready on Sunday.”
This week, Mr Jarrett was busy putting the finishing touches on another bird painting, an endearing image of tiny emperor penguin chicks sheltering on the tops of their parents’ feet. He has spent a total of 2 ½ months in Antarctica and said he had a lot of sympathy for the passengers and crew of a Russian vessel trapped recently in heavy sea ice.
