ADDITIONAL manpower has been committed to the beleaguered West Portland Sewerage Scheme project to ensure it is completed by May.
The project is well behind previous completion dates given by Wannon Water, with the water authority understood to be facing a substantial cost blow-out on the work.
The project, which will connect 133 allotments to a reticulated sewerage scheme, has been subject to some ambitious timelines by Wannon Water which, in part, included:
- June 2008 – announced that the tender would be awarded in November 2008.
- July 2011 – the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal hands down a decision allowing the scheme to proceed after six landholders objected to cost issues.
