A MAN in his 60s was retrieved from a cruise ship at sea on Wednesday evening with the help of the Australian Coast Guard Portland Flotilla and Ambulance Victoria paramedics, after he suffered a suspected stroke.
The American man was onboard the MV Silver Shadow when he became unwell as the ship travelled from Hobart in Tasmania to KangarooIsland in South Australia.
A doctor on board the ship cared for the man but it was decided he needed further medical attention and needed to be transferred to land.
Commander of the Portland Flotilla, Michael Krause, said they were contacted by the Victoria Water Police at 4.30pm on Wednesday to offer assistance.
