CORANGAMITE Shire Council Mayor, Chris O’Connor, is continuing to lobby the State Government for a “suitable outcome” for the future use of Glenormiston College.
Cr O’Connor has written a letter to Minister for Higher Education and Skills, Peter Hall, regarding the college’s future after the South West TAFE board announced last October it would be cease operations at the facility early this year.
Seven staff will lose theit jobs when the campus closes in March
The letter provides an update to the Minister following the public meeting held in December that discussed future uses for the site.
The meeting was well attended with over 70 people from the local community joining South West TAFE chief executive, Peter Heilbuth, South West TAFE chair, Mike Wiese and local parliamentary representatives Simon Ramsey and David O’Brien.
Detailed in the letter are some of the futures uses suggested at the meeting by members of the local community, which included education, agricultural, accommodation, commercial and multiple site options for use by a variety of groups.
