A HAT-TRICK to Charlie Woodford has provided a highlight in the qualifiers for the Sungold 20/20 Representative Cup when he achieved the rare feat in the Portland Tigers victory over Tyrendarra in the semi finals.
The Tigers capped off a successful tournament when they went on to defeat the Portland Colts in the final, propelling the side into the representative competition which will pit them against the best teams of the region.
Woodford produced the achievement in his first over of the semi final which destroyed the chances of a Tyrendarra win and presented Woodford with his greatest ever cricket achievement.
The hat-trick over got off to a slow start after Woodford bowled two wides and a dead ball, although this was merely the calm before the storm as a trio of wickets descended upon the game and gifted Woodford the perfect homecoming after his return from a six-week trip overseas.
“When I got one to land in a good area it just knicked the back of the seam and got through the gate and clipped the top of the stump,” Woodford said.
