LOWAN MP Hugh Delahunty said he “feels comfortable” with the decision to leave Horsham Incident Control Centre last Friday during the Northern Grampians bushfire.
Mr Delahunty was named by Channel 7 News on Thursday as the second Victorian minister who was at the Australian Open tennis tournament when Halls Gap was threatened by bushfires.
Emergency Services Minister, Kim Wells, was the main target of criticism after he confirmed to 3AW’s Neil Mitchell that he was at the tennis last Friday night.
Later that day, Channel 7 News was able to confirm that Mr Delahunty was also at the tennis on January 17, having left the Horsham Incident Control Centre at 4pm.
Mr Delahunty told The Spectator he “was not a firefighter” and had done everything he could for Lowan that night and had official business in Melbourne.
