THE National Broadband Network construction crews will break ground in the Greater Hamilton region after two years without any local points on the roll-out map.
Areas immediately surrounding Hamilton along with Cavendish and Macarthur will have access to broadband as fast as inner-city areas within 12 months via ‘fixed wireless’ service.
A National Broadband Network Company (NBNCo) spokesman said construction will commence in nine regions across Western Victoria and will connect 2050 homes and businesses.
Wannon MP Dan Tehan said he was pleased that many communities would get their first broadband connection.
“I am pleased the Coalition has commenced the building of NBN for over 2050 more homes and businesses in Western Victoria so they can get very fast broadband at speeds equivalent to the city,” he said.
