CHILDREN were the big winners during the Hamilton Racing Club’s Kids of Summer Fun race day last Friday.
Free showbags were a hit with those who made their way out to the course for the club’s first race meeting for the new year.
Also in demand was a number of free activities, including the popular jumping castle, bead making, brain noodles, footy handball and colouring in activities.
Warrnambool trainer Aaron Purcell took the honours on the track with a winning double.
It was also a good day for Hamilton trainer Allan Clark, who saddled up a winner with first starter Happy Valentine in a 1200m maiden event.
The four year old mare, ridden by Holly McKechnie, showed signs of a promising career ahead, finishing 1.3 lengths ahead of her nearest rival, fellow first starter King Deano.
