AFTER an extreme fire risk day on Tuesday, Portland and much of the state is bracing for more fire danger days today and tomorrow.
“Tuesday was an extreme day, worse then predicted,” Country Fire Authority District 4 operations manager Peter Novotny said.
There were two separate fires in the area on Tuesday, which CFA and Department of Environment and Primary Industries fire crews were able to quickly contain.
“We are very fortunate, the chances of us stopping the spread of fire on Tuesday in those conditions would have been very low,” he said.
