THE future use of the former George Hotel is still not decided, but an application has been put forward to demolish the old pub.
Flint Architects have put forward an application to Southern Grampians Shire Council last year on behalf of developer Gerald Rawson.
Public consultation on the application closes today and the council is then expected to make a final decision.
“The building has been vacant and in disrepair for some time, and as the motel is due for demolition in the near future, it is considered appropriate to demolish the hotel at the same time,” he said in the September application.
“The future use of the site at this stage is unknown.”
Mr Fakhry’s application listed the cost of demolition as $70,000 but it’s unclear whether that includes the demolition of the motel, which took place shortly before Christmas.
Mr Fakhry has been appointed as architect for the Coles site development.
